Big Ben Wallace compared with Dennis "The Worm" Rodman

Wallace: height 6'9 (around 205-207CM) weight: 240 pounds around 109KGs
Rodman: height 6'8 (around 202-203CM) weight: 243 pounds barely 110Kgs
both have been known for working out, making their money in the weight room. True hard workers, people who do everything possible to become the best they can. Wallace more predominantly for being strong through the upper body and Rodman for those crazy legs and insane core strength both have the dirty work capabilities rebounding and hustling.

lets compare their teams,
Wallace:

  1. WIZ/Bullets (1996–1999)
  2. Magic(1999–2000)
  3. Pistons(2000–2006)
  4. Bulls (2006–2008)
  5. Cavs (2008-2009)
  6. SUNS (2009)
Rodman:
  1. Pistons (1986-1993)
  2. Spurs (1993-1995)
  3. Bulls (1995-1996)
  4. Lakers (1999)
  5. Mavs (200)
its obvious they are both regularly moved. However they both had great stints at the pistons.

they both had/have great careers!
in comparison, Rodman grabs 2.8 rebounds a game than Wallace he also has 1.1 more points per game and 1.5 more O boards boards a game and .5 more assists however he also averages .58 more TOs a game. but the big one is in blocking and steals in blocking wallace gets 2.3 a game too Rodman's 0.5 meaning 1.8 difference and he also has 1.3 steals a game which means he has 0.6 more steals per game than Rodman .

Awards,
Wallace:
4x NBA Defensive player of the yer (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006)
4-time NBA All Star
5-time All-NBA Team
6-time All NBA Defensive Team
1X NBA Champion

Rodman:
  • 5x NBA CHAMP (1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, 1998)
  • 2x All star (1990, 1992)
  • 2x Defensive player of the year(1990, 1991)
  • 2x all NBA third team Selection (1992, 1995)
  • 7x NBA 1st defensive team Selection
  • 7x NBA Rebounding Champion (1992–1998)
in my research i found:
Rodman= more successful in championship sense as well as smashing Wallace in boards!
Wallace= better defender on ball, better single defense player however does less on offense
its a draw! so i'd put it down to succes therefore Rodman wins only because he has 5 champ rings.

just random thing about teams i thought about

i was in a forum reading about the top ten roles for a team to have so i decided to have a look, form ideas and as always post:

History has shown that specific types of players are more important than others. If you're fuzzy on the concept, think of the emphasis on size. It's a rudimentary example, but I hope my list makes things more clear. Here are my top 10 roles:

1.) Back to the basket big man with post moves and post passing abilities.

Put simply, he's the king of the court. He puts the game at the pace ideal to his team, he opens up the floor, he scores, and he creates for others. Think Tim Duncan and Shaq and history takes us back to wilt in my eyes the greatest.

2.) Playmaking Swingmen.

They create for themselves, teammates, and take over games. They are also much, much, much easier to find than 1) on the list, and they don't have the advantage of height. Kobe, Wade, and LeBron are the examples from our decade.

3.) Versatile Power Forwards

They shoot, play facing the basket, have a few low post moves, and can pass. Noticing a trend here? Unfortuantely, they don't have the sheer game changing ability of 1.) Dirk and Garnett fall here.

4.) Playmaking Point Guards.
I think their impact is really, really overstated. Perhaps they've been blocked by great players at 1) and 2), or perhaps I'm right like usual. I think they need to be extremely special, one in a life time special like Magic, to be a singlehanded force. Nash, DWill, and CP3 are obvious, but Parker and Billups shouldn't be overlooked.

5.) Defensive/Rebounding Bigman
It's preferable for these players to be part of 1.) or 6.), but that's rarely the case. Good defensive teams win championships, and it doesn't matter how good your perimeter defense is if your bigs can't pull down the ball.

6.) Scoring Bigman
Mostly gets his points in Pick and Roll and Pick and Pop. Usually can't create for others besides floor spacing and demanding double teams. Amare and Al Jefferson.

7.) Scoring Wing
They really shouldn't have the ball in their hands too much, because they can't, don't, or aren't asked to create for other players. Richard Jefferson comes to mind.

8.) Scoring Point Guard
Limited in effectiveness because a playmaking swingman is necessary. They're usually thrown there because of height. Still, they create pressure the second they are past the half-court line.

9.) Defense + 3 point shooting Wing
Locks down the opposing teams best player, and creates the ever important floor spacing. Battier, Bowen, and Posey.

10.) defending PG with speed and ball handling
these guys are very important and they are even more imporant if you don't have a number 4.) these sort of players.
also my favorite pairings for teams like duos or trios
my favorite and may look familar
2), 5) and i consider pippin a 6)/4)/9 Bulls?
or just a 1) or a 3) and a 4) Stockton and Malone?
i also like
5) and 3) with a nice 8) or 10)
anyways thats my say.

top ten Power Forwards of all time

The best Power Forward of all time… there are many great candidates from many different eras and they way to judge would be so hard, you could go on individual success (stats awards etc.) players like Karl Malone and or you could do it on winning and success of the team they were in, then the top of that list become McHale, Tim Duncan and Dennis Rodman all of whom have been very successful, however I have made my list of the top few PFs on a mixture of both success in stats and success in play offs and regular season. The other problem is distinguishing a PF from the C because of the lack of height many of the larger forwards ended up playing center.

NO.10 Dirk Nowitzki,
Dirk is one of the better shooters of all time, his name is often compared to greats like Larry Bird and Kevin McHale. Dirk over his career he has averages of 22.4 points a game, along with 8.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists a game defensively he averages just less than a steal and one block a game. Dirk shots efficiently with 47 percent from the field and 38% from beyond the arch he is also a very successful line shooter, at 87% from the line (he has his routine in which he hums whilst taking his shot) Dirk has won an MVP, and in the same season(06-07) his Dallas mavericks won 67 games, He has been selected to seven All Star teams, and he has been selected to eight All-NBA teams, with three of them as a first-team member. He is also the first and only player from Europe to win an MVP. His style is more of finesse than brute and strength you seem him do some really good mid range jumpers do open up his inside game, as many bigger men struggle with guarding a player with his permitter abilities.

NO.9 Dave Debusschere
Dave was one of the first super Power forwards nicknames “D” and “BIG D” which stood for defence, he was an amazing player with unreal hustle and determination definitely in his times top handful of defenders. In 1996 he was recognised at being in the top 50 players of all time and is unlucky not to be higher on this list. Everyone who ever came up against would leave bruised, he is one of the most physical players of all time. He was never afraid of trading elbows and really fighting for a rebound or lose ball. He was also known for his Amazing Defensive skills, which helped earn his nicknames, he made the All Defensive 1st team 6 times. In his career he averaged a solid 16.1 points and 11 rebounds a game as well as getting 3 assists and shooting 43.2% from the field. A player like him in more recent times was Dennis Rodman, however Dennis didn’t have nearly the same offensive game as Dave. His style of play almost the opposite of Dirk’s as Dave would power it home more often.

NO.8 Dennis Rodman
Dennis “the bully worm” Rodman was much shorter than his adversaries standing at just a drink shorter than 6’8, he was known for his rebounding and “bad boy” antics, he was a member of the pistons in their Bad boy era and was never one to back down he fought the admiral Robinson, Karl Malone, Shaq, two officials, a camera man(less of a fight more of a beat down) and many many more. He is one of the best rebounders of all time leading the league in rebounds 7 times (1992–1998) he was also a 7 time NBA All-Defensive First Team, a 2 time NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1990, 1991) , a 2 time All-Star (1990, 1992), 2time All-NBA Third Team Selection (1992, 1995) and most impressively 5time NBA Champion (1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, 1998) a player that wins so many individual awards as well as being a champ 5 times should really be higher on the list no matter what sort of a team he was on. He had career averages of 7.3 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, along with a very good 52.1 percent from the field. A very impressive career when you think about when he was getting around 18 rebounds its pretty amazing for one man to grab so many rebounds, its good for a big man to pull down 11 boards but, Rodman was one of those guys who would jump 2-3 times for one rebound, played harder than anyone I have ever seen he hustled when the ball was lose and he banged with the best of them when the rebound was contested, the reason he could do these things was because he had desire for the ball and spectacular athleticism. He also has a CCW Heavyweight Champion(he is a semi-pro wrestler) which he got in 2008.

NO.7 Charles Barkley
Nick named sir Charles and the round mound of rebound, he was nick named the round mound of rebound because of his bulky build despite being shorter than most other Power Forwards he would almost definitely be as strong, he was very good at beating different types of opponents, being faster than most other Fs/Cs and stronger than the PF/SF which made him a major weapon at scoring. He was probably the only power forward that was capable of leading a fast break and was a powerful leaper a 39-inch vertical leap in his prime of his athleticism despite his heavyweight. He was the NBA’s MVP in 1993 he was an a NBA All-star 11 times 87-97, 5 time 1st team,5 time 2nd team and one time 3rd team. 1 time NBA All-Star Game MVP 1991 he was also 1984 SEC Player of the Year and 1980's SEC Player of the Decade. He was one of the more exciting players of all time, a great shooter, he shot a tremendous 54.1 from the field and 73.5 percent from the free-throw line. Standing at 6’4 he was a solid defender with some insane rebounding and scoring numbers another one of those power house players however he had a great finesse game as well.

NO.6 Elvin Hayes
Hayes Who I believe is one of the most underrated players of all time, was a superstar in his own right, named top in the top 50 players of all time in 1996, he made the 1st 3 times the 2nd team 2 times and the all rookie team. Both his college and his NBA team retired his jerseys and of course a 12 time NBA all star and 1 time champ. Over his career he had over 27,000 points, over 16,000 points and over 1750 blocks, a very accomplished player, he was also as tough as nails and wouldn’t let injuries stop him, he never missed more than two games a season this is crazy because he player 16 seasons. A big man at 6’9 and 235 Pounds a beast for the boards and was half of one of the better Duos of all time, him and Wes Unseld. Elvin has the 6th most points of all time he led the league in scoring in 1968 and the 4th most rebounds of all time he led the league in rebounds in 1970 and 1974

NO.5 Kevin McHale
McHale was a key member of the three championship Celtics teams in the 1980s, a real star however he did shine next to Parish and Bird. In his 13 year career(all of which were with the Celtics) he won three championships and scored 17,335, I think he I one of the best down low shooters the league has ever, like a much better version of Dirk with a defensive game as well. He was a 7 time all star, only a 1 time first team, 3 time defensive 1st team, 3 time defensive 2nd team, 2 sixth man of the year awards and was named into the top 50 players of all time.

NO.4 Kevin Garnett
A very versatile player, can play anyone of the three big men position but, spends almost all his time at PF, he has balance and vision like a G his knowledge of whats going to happen, he reads the game very well and this makes him a very worth while player, especially on the defensive end, he, like many of the players on this list, has lots of awards. He has just acquired his NBA champion status, 11 time all star, MVP in 2004, best defensive player 2008, all NBA 1st team 4 times, and NBA 2nd team 3 times, all nba 3rd 2 times, all defensive 1st team 7 times, all defensive 2nd team 2 times and an NBA all star game MVP.KG is unstoppable one of the best defenders and still incredibly successful on the offensive end as well, he can power it home or he can beat them for speed, he picks out weaknesses and exploits them, a sign of a truly versatile player. He is also the all-time leader in NBA seasons played with averages of at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. So far, in 13 seasons, he has career averages of 20.4 points, 11.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. He has also shot a 49.4 percent from the field and 78.1 percent from the free-throw line.

NO.3 Bob Pettit
one of the most awarded players in NBA history, he has all rookie team, rookie of the year, 4 NBA all star MVPs, 2 NBA MVPs, the all time teams from, 25th year,35th year, and the all time team 50th year, 10 times 1st team, 1 2nd team, NBA all star 11 times, and 2 times scoring champion. Formerly a SF in college played a fair bit of overall F and is debateable that he shouldn’t be on this list. Despite being a super star he never got a title. He was more to out stepping his opponents as to walking in and fighting for position another better version of a scoring rebounding F with the great shooting and even better moves (better rebounding) he could score at will. Pettit was one of the first dominant big men in the league. He had career averages of 26.4 points, 16.2 rebounds and 3 assists along with 43.6 percent from the field and 76.1 percent from the free throw line.

NO.2 Karl Malone
In terms of statistics, Malone should be No. 1 on this list. However, he wasn't clutch or a winner. He had career averages of 25 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.8 blocks. He also shot 51.6 percent from the field and 74.2 percent from the free-throw line. He also ranks second all-time in total points, as he is only behind Kareem. In his career which went over he was selected to the All-Star team 14 times, and he was selected to the All NBA team 14 times, with 11 of the selections as a member of the first team. He also won two All-Star Game MVPs and two regular MVP awards. However, he never won a ring as, he could never lead the Jazz to a title. He was a big banger built like a brick big body and as strong as an ox.

NO.1 Tim Duncan
Tim Duncan is here at NO.1 for a lot of reasons, mainly the 4 rings but another stat that is very impressive is that in his 11 season career he has only been out of the top 5 MVP runners once and he has never in his 11 season career not been in the top 10. he has career averages of 21.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.4 blocks, and 0.8 steals. He has also shot 50.8 percent from the field and 68.4 percent from the free-throw line. He is in my top 10 clutch players of all time and my top ten players of all time. He has been selected to 10 All-Star teams, and he has also won an All-Star Game MVP in 2000. Duncan has also been selected to the All-NBA team 11 times, with nine of the selections as a member of the first team. He was also selected to the All NBA Defensive team nine times, with seven of the selections as a member of the first team. He also won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1998, and he won back to back MVP awards in the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons. He is also one of the most winningness players of all time and he is so clutch he has won 3 finals MVPs.

That concludes my list. Feel free to debate it
